Living on the Bay of Funday is interesting to say the least. I heard that we do get seals around here, but I really was not expecting to actually see any. I went out to the Irving Nature Park for a hike, took my camera of course. I ended up at one of the look-outs and saw a cruise ship out in the distance. It must of been just leaving port. I knew that it would come by my way on it's way out to sea. Not one to miss a photo op, I waited patiently for the ship to get closer.
While I was standing there, waiting for eternity for the ship, I heard a very strange noise. I looked down at the water, puzzled indeed when I heard the noise again. I realized that the water was full of seals ! Seals just playing around and hanging out on some rocks out in the water. I forgot all about the ship, i was so excited for seeing the seals. I do wish that they had been on the rocks along the coast line.
I started snapping like crazy to capture them. I was not sure that they would show up at all. Thank gosh that with the Canon Eos Rebel, the photos are humungous. They give you lots of room to crop and play with......very good seeing as I had to crop the pic ALOT inorder for the seals to show up well. Otherwise, it would have looked like a photo of water with afew blobs floating around.

It still looks furry, but it works for now. I'm going to have to buy myself a really wicked high telephoto lens ! Next year i'll be out there, making sure I get some really great seal photos. Here is another photo, one of the little cuties was bieng playful, I wonder if he knew he was on film ?

I shrunk the photo so it would fit on my blog, lol. I think it overshrunk ! You can see three blobs aka seals hanging out on the rock to the left and the playful seal jumping through the water : ) He almost looks like a dolphin, I hear we get those around here at times too.
